Overview
Why do workplaces need Equal Opportunity, Bullying and Harassment Training?
It is good business sense
A fair, bullying and harassment free workplace is good for business. Happy employees are usually productive employees and a low staff turnover reduces costs and helps retain – and attract - talent.
There are legal obligations to do so
Australian Federal, State and Territory Legislation provide protections and impose obligations in relation to appropriate workplace behaviour and workplace practices.
For example, some applicable Federal Acts include:
• Racial Discrimination Act 1975
• Sex Discrimination Act 1984
• Disability Discrimination Act 1995
• Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act 1995
• Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1986
• Fair Work Act 2009
• Age Discrimination Act 2004
